Who We Are
Our History
Founded in 1946, Local 850 Charitable Fund has been helping those in need throughout the community. Our union has grown over the years and hosts several events to raise money not only for our Charitable Fund but organizations such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association. We strive to extend our reach to as many in need as possible and need your support to help us reach our goals.
Our Community
The Local 850 is a proud supporter of our local youth organizations throughout the community. Every year we donate to scout groups, sports teams, and are always happy to lend a hand during their fundraising efforts.
Giving Back
As member of the East Providence Fire department we are called upon to help those in our community at some of the worst times in their lives. We often recognize that some of the help needed goes beyond emergency medicine or fire suppression. During Thanksgiving and Christmas we provide food baskets, essential clothing, and gifts for children to unwrap. Our charitable fund goes a long way in bringing families together during some of the toughest times of the year.
An Important Cause
As a Fire Department we see many patients that are affected by terminal illnesses and disabilities. Nueromuscular diseases are some that can affect anyone at any time. The Muscular Dystrophy Association plays a tremendous role in leading the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of families affected. EPFD Local 850 is proud to host an annual Fill the Boot Drive to raise essential funding for the MDA.
